Come and experience a musical long weekend! Featuring three concerts on consecutive nights followed by an afternoon Masterclass, The Long Weekender is the centre-piece for DeClassified Music 2014. Relish the mesmerising and diverse performances from 17 musicians from Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane. Let your ears and eyes feast when some of Australia’s most exciting musicians perform small ensemble repertoire in Newstead from Bach to Xenakis to jazz.

The Long Weekender events will be performed here again at FireWorks Gallery against a backdrop of striking artworks from Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, Northern Territory.

A magnificent Steinway concert grand piano from Theme & Variations Piano Services Queensland will grace the warehouse gallery space. Clovely Estate will be providing wine alongside espresso martinis from Blue Sky Coffee at Concert No. 3.

Also featuring exclusively at Concert No. 3 is a new jazz work - premiering on jazz vocals, sax and piano by Kristin Berardi, Rafael Karlen and Sean Foran. The inspiration for this music commission has been drawn from an artwork at FireWorks Gallery titled Bushfire break by senior Pintupi artist Ronnie Tjampitjinpa.
