FireWorks Gallery has partnered with Teneriffe Festival to provide custom artwork by Joanne Currie Nalingu. Joanne has used her distinctive river and shield imagery to lend to the Teneriffe Festival brand. You can read more about the project on page 6 in My Village News.
In addition, Brisbane artist Alick Sweet will present a new sculptural installation at the festival. The installation of his loveable dog sculptures are assembled here as Choir of Dogs. Everyone, it seems, has a dog story and many of their quirky characteristics are brought out through the artist’s use of colour, form and design.
The Teneriffe Festival launch party was hosted at the Triffid on 20 April with a quintet of dogs in attendance alongside Phil Gordon’s hilarious sheep sculptures Homage to Lalanne. The larger than life sheep forms are made of bronze and pure wool and also mirror the Teneriffe Festival’s famous ovine logo.
