Wompi was born in late 1930s in the Great Sandy Desert at Lipuru. During the prolonged drought of the 1960’s, she left the desert and travelled to Balgo Mission, where she met her husband. After the passing of her husband, Wompi returned to Kunawarritji to be with her close relatives where she remained until her passing in 2017.
Wompi is highly regarded for her ethereal style and deep knowledge of the Country surrounding her home in Kunawarritji. Her work consists of intricate tracings of Kunawarritji and bold and passionate strokes of colour to articulate her deep love of the spirit of her Country.
Her work has been exhibited in State and National galleries as well as internationally.
